The things we love about Park Circle are numerous and difficult to put into words. The area has a laid back vibe with access to wonderful restaurants and community events. We rarely leave the area! There is no need to! Park Circle is central to just about everything. So no matter where you are going, it takes approximately 15 minutes to get there. If you want to go to the beach, it takes 15 minutes. If you want to go downtown, it takes 15 minutes. If you want to go to West Ashley, it takes 15 minutes. But again, there is not much reason to leave. The revitalization that is happening in the area is unbelievable. Everyone is going to want to live here within the next 10 years so if you are smart you will move here now, why the getting is good.
Our neighborhood is great for young and old alike. There are a ton of kids and you will see them frequently in the neighborhood riding their bikes, playing in pocket parks and enjoying the playgrounds. When you leave your home and you pass a fellow neighbor, you know them, you wave to them and say, "Hello!" and even stop and chat for a bit. There is no putting your head down and pretending like you didn't see them. Throughout the year there are neighborhood events that bring everyone together. If you need a stick of butter, a box, a stack of magazines for a school project, put it on the Oak Terrace Preserve Facebook page. Within a couple of minutes you will have several neighbors offering to help. So many that you will have to turn some down. We look out for each other and help in any way that we can. There is a true sense of community and it makes all of the difference in the world.
We love to eat at Accent on Wine, Yo Bo Cantina, Lotus, EVO, Stems & Skins, Lola, The Cod Father, The BBQ Joint, The Junction, Basico, Sesame, Fratello's, and top everything off with an ice cream from Park Circle Creamery. See what I mean? There is no need to go anywhere else!

When we bought the property we were drawn to the uniqueness of the area. It has a small town feel with a hip vibe.
The Park Circle Area is unlike any other area. There truly is something for everyone here. If you like good food, it is here. If you like art, it is here. If you like knowing your neighbors and supporting your community, you will love it here. If you like the outdoors, you will love the numerous parks. We even have a disc golf course right in the center of the circle. The rec department has every sporting opportunity for your child you can imagine. There is swimming, tennis, soccer, football, baseball, and even an outdoor hockey court.
Although we feel like we have mentioned a lot already, there is still plenty more. The Riverfront Park is just around the corner on the old Navy shipyard. Something else you can find in our area is this boat you may have heard of called the Hunley.
The Riverfront Park has wonderful, free concerts during the summer that are very family friendly. Not to mention one of the best fireworks display on the Fourth of July. If you like to fish, there are plenty of fishing spots in the area. There is also a fountain that the kiddos can play in on hot summer days. In the center of the circle on Thursdays you can find a farmers market for local goodies and produce. In the community center they have exercise classes and antique shows on a regular basis. If your child plays baseball or T-ball, this is where you will watch them play. All throughout the day you will see folks walking or running the circle. During Christmas, there are lights set up that you can walk or drive through.
Our favorite thing to do in the area, other than enjoying the excellent restaurants and wine bars, is relaxing at Mixon Bath & Racquet Club. They have a pool which is a must for the kiddos during the summer. They too have events throughout the year including a New Year's Eve party, oyster roasts, holiday events including the Easter bunny and Santa Claus, and cabanas you can rent out for special events or just to watch one of your favorite teams play their rivals. If you are headed home and realize you need a bottle of wine, hop into Mixon Market. Their wine is on tap! Also located in Mixon is a barber, florist and one of the best spas in the area.
Of course we all like different things, but we enjoy the social aspects of the area. Our life revolves around our children and their activities so you will usually find us at one of the local sporting events or taking Jiu Jitsu classes at the church or Mixon. We see plenty of folks riding their bikes or fishing or playing disc golf. Another ‘can't miss’ event is the North Charleston Arts Festival. We even have a small theater downtown to catch local actors doing their thing. There truly is something for everyone.
Our neighborhood is Green Certified therefore our utilities are pretty low for the size of our home. We use SCE&G and Charleston Water.
