The things I love about Charleston are many-- We have the best food, the nicest people and a rich history. There's always something going on, a new activity to try, a new neighborhood to discover, or a new hobby to master. Being near the water, whether it is for a day on the boat or a day at the beach, is a way of life here. Charleston is the cultural and economic heart of South Carolina and the best part of the state to call home.
James Island is great because of its laid back and relaxed feel. Bars and restaurants are plentiful and the proximity to both downtown Charleston and Folly Beach can't be beat. Bayfield, in particular, is a very quiet and hidden neighborhood in the middle of it all. The streets are quiet and the neighbors are friendly. There are two supermarkets, a corner drug store and many restaurants in less than a 2-mile radius.
I love to eat at the new Sermets! It is within easy walking distance and is a local favorite. Other great spots nearby are Thai Elephants, Zia Taqueria, Cure Steakhouse, Mondo's Delight and White Duck Taco Shop.
The Charleston area is great for a vibrant music and food scene.A few other things I can mention are the proximity to great schools, the low association fees, and the sense of community. Bayfield is within walking distance of James Island Middle school. The monthly association fees are minimal, and include landscaping, maintenance of common areas, exterior paint and upkeep of driveways.
Of course we all like different things, but I particularly enjoy being close to the beach, the tidal creek access in the neighborhood and to James Island County Park. I spend Saturdays and Sundays paddling in my kayak-- the great thing is that there is easy access to the creek within a quarter mile of the front door.
Electric service is provided here by SCE&G. Rates are reasonable and I've had good service in this home with no unexpected interruptions. Cable/Internet options include Comcast and AT&T.
