WHY THE SELLER LOVES LIVING HERE:
The things we love about Mount Pleasant are the proximity to the beach and Charleston. We are so close to so many cultural, outdoor, family, etc. activities that you never run out of fun things to do with family and friends.
Our neighborhood is great for family activities. We really appreciate that we can get outside and walk or ride a bike and still be in the Park West community. And new activities are added all the time. Recently some old paths have been remodeled into some small dirt bike paths perfect for exploring with the kids in a Saturday afternoon.

We love to eat at Salt at Station 22 and many of the fantastic restaurants in nearby such as Umi, Mellow Mushroom, Sol, East Bay Deli, Steel City Pizza, Burton's Grill, and Los Arcos. In 20 minutes we are in a blossoming foodie town.

When we bought the property we were drawn to the closeness of Park West amenities and schools. The community center is great and we also have a Recreation Center within Park West. The schools are also right in Park West which is very convenient.

The Charleston area is wonderful for family time. Taking the dog to the dog park or the kids to the beach or visitors kayaking is so close that you forget not everyone has all these outdoors to explore practically in their backyard.

A few things that I can mention is how enjoyable it is to sit outside after dinner and read or talk with friends and be comfortable and listen to the marsh creatures create their own background "music" or even catch a doe and her fawns stroll by.

We really enjoy going to the beach. Many evening and mornings are spent strolling at IOP.

Of course we all like different things, we enjoy taking the kayak out at Paradise Pier. Our daughter likes the variety of shopping and restaurants in Charleston and Mount Pleasant to explore with friends. Our son likes the fishing ponds and Crab Dock in Park West. Each has something different to offer.

Our utility costs are reasonable. SCG&E provide our gas and electric in a combined bill. We averaged $314 for gas and electric in 2014. Mt. Pleasant Waterworks provided the water. We averaged $79 for water in 2014. This was much lower than we were used to paying for water. One additional perk is trash and recycling pick-up is still free. The has become fairly uncommon across the United States so we felt a bit spoiled that Mount Pleasant still offers this service for free.

WHAT THE SELLER LOVES ABOUT LIVING HERE:

The thing we love about Summerville is that it is a beautiful, growing town but has managed to have that small-town charm. The downtown area is only a short drive away and has wonderful restaurants, craft beer pubs such as Frothy Beard and Homegrown BrewHouse, a wine bar, Accent onWine & More, and a very cool coffee shop, Coastal Coffee Roasters.

There are events almost every weekend for families and adults including weekly farmers market, concerts featuring local musicians, and festivals. And if you need to stretch your legs a little bit and be in the bustle of a city, Charleston is just down the road with plenty of shopping, sightseeing, and restaurants to keep you busy all day!

Our neighborhood is great for all - families, retirees, & young people. It is quiet enough for a relaxing weekend, but the sidewalks beckon you to stay active and take an evening stroll on summer evenings. If you want to see the town for the evening, restaurants and bars are just around the corner. It is a quiet respite when things seem to be moving too quickly.

We love to eat at Triangle Char & Bar (Wednesday night taco night is our favorite), Palmetto Flats, and Pad Thai One in old downtown Summerville. We are always able to find great, local places with great food and staff.

When we bought the property we were drawn not only to the smart investment of buying a home in a growing, prosperous town, but by the convenience of living in Summerville! Friends always want to come visit and our guest room is seldom vacant. Several grocery stores are very close (Harris Teeter, Publix, Food Lion, and Bi-Lo) and shopping is convenient (Azelea Town Center, Tanger Outlets, & Downtown Shopping).

The Charleston area is wonderful because there is always something to do or see! If you need to take a trip, the airport is convenient and easily accessible, the mountains are a short trip away, and the ocean is your backyard. The Lowcountry offers something for everyone from the beach bum to the expert surfer, from the window shopper to the coffee shop lover, to the marathon runner to the porch sitter, you can always find something for
you!

A few other things I can mention is that you can always find a community here. From religious worship to green-living groups, people are always friendly, loving, and accepting.

We enjoy taking bike treks down the Oakbrook Trail, spending the day on the beach, eating at new restaurants, taking our dog to one of the several dog-friendly public parks and historical sites, and spending lazy Saturday mornings at coffee shops and farmers markets.

Our utility costs and service are the best in the area! SCE&G is reliable and efficient, with very fair rates and quality service. Dorchester County Water Services is also great, with a very low water bill and convenient payment options. Also, Dorchester County Government is small enough to pick up the phone and get a problem resolved quickly and easily.

The things we love about Charleston are all of the many events that happen throughout the city, year round. We love the water and beach access, dining at unique food establishments, and the accessibility to shopping. There is also a strong sense of community throughout Charleston.

Why the seller LOVES living here:

Things I love about Mt. Pleasant are that it one of the largest cities in SC with many conveniences such as a vast array of modern shopping, theaters, dining, and medical establishments all centrally located. Furthermore, my home stands out in that it is located in the charming historical district of Mt. Pleasant (with amazing homes dating back to the 1700's), is one of only a few rare marsh-front properties in the district, is within biking distance of the beach and within minutes of the highly desirable historical downtown Charleston. Charleston is noted as being CondeNaste's "America's Favorite City" and for good reason ... it was one of the original settlements in the US with a variety of European architectural influences, offers world-renowned dining and culture, and is all within a few minutes’ drive from my home.

Although Mt.Pleasant has expanded dramatically over the years, this home is located in its most prestigious original section which is near the beaches, Charleston harbor, and downtown Charleston. Not only is the area not as congested as the newer sections of Mt. Pleasant (making commuting to/from work exponentially less hectic), it maintains the grace, dignity, and historical feel that made the entire area famous. The neighborhood itself is distinguished in that it is served by SC's 5-star rated public schools, including the nearby Mt. Pleasant AcademyMoultrie Middle School, and Wando High School. It is a wonderful place to live, work, and play. Ride your bike to the Pickett Park to observe beautiful Charleston harbor, the islands, and have a picnic or fish from the public piers. Take a stroll down historical Pitt Street, taking in the upscale and old feel of the area, stopping by the Pitt Street Pharmacy for an old fashioned soda or sandwich with your children, the Old Village Post House restaurant for an after-work cocktail or dinner, and watch the sun set over the beautiful Ravenel Bridge and harbor. Live in a neighborhood that is very friendly, safe, and inviting. And live in a house that is a refuge within modern suburbia.... when you come home to 805 Post Oak Drive, you will feel a sense of serenity with a private pond in front of your house and view of the Charleston Harbor, Historic Ft. SumterSullivan's Island Lighthouse flashing in your windows, and the sounds and smells of the sea atmosphere. Enjoy incredible view of high tides which completely cover the marsh and give you the feel of having the ocean in your midst; enjoy watching cruise ships constantly travel to/from the Port of Charleston. You absolutely can't go wrong with choosing this house as your residence both from a quality of life perspective and sound investment.

Mt. Pleasant itself has many enjoyable restaurants within only a few miles of 805 Post Oak Drive and the short drive to downtown Charleston. Some of my favorites include Papa Zuzu's Mediterranean deli, Southern Seasons upscale restaurant and gourmet takeout, the Old Village Post House restaurant, R.B's seafood, and Scratch Taco Boutique. And all the aforementioned are within just a 3 mile radius! If you care to venture to Mt. Pleasant Towne Centre, not only will you find wonderful places to shop and an awesome theatre, but you will be surrounded by many eclectic dining choices as you stroll throughout. If you wish to travel downtown, only a few minutes away, you will immensely enjoy eating at Fulton Five Italian RestaurantHyman's Seafood, Poogan's Porch, and Slightly North of Broad. There are so many restaurants of distinction downtown, you will absolutely find several to suit your taste, as Charleston is becoming recognized as an upscale culinary city.

Concerning conveniences, there are many grocery stories, pharmacies, schools, restaurants, and medical establishments right around the corner. If you become ill, nearby Pitt St. pharmacy is one of the few remaining pharmacies which will deliver medicine to your door. There is a General Practitioner right around the corner if you are not feeling well and a CVS in the same parking lot. Publix, Harris Teeter, and Bi-Lo are within biking/ golf cart distance. If you are searching for a quality of life which offers the best in modern conveniences, you cannot go wrong with this property.

This house is distinguished in that (1) it is one of the most desirable addresses within Mount Pleasant, having a peaceful tidal marsh in the rear and pond in front, (2) was custom designed for the lot maximizing views of Charleston harbor, Ft. Sumter, Sullivan's Island, the majestic lighthouse flashing in your windows, and Isle of Palms. It has a rear deck and porches great for entertaining or just watching the cargo and cruise ships pass by the harbor. Take the 3 minute drive to Sullivan's Island beach each evening or weekend with your family (or ride your bike using the public bike trail), drive across the beautiful modern Ravenel Bridge while taking in views of Charleston harbor en route to fine dining, the historic Battery area, Spoleto Festival USA, parks, and many cultural centers.

We love to stroll down Center Street on the weekends to take a walk out to the historical Pitt Street Bridge, enjoying views of Charleston harbor and the surrounding islands. The historical atmosphere is unparalleled within the United States, as nearby Old Village Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston were among the original US settlements from Europe. However, the home itself has such a great ambiance with its many windows, astonishing views, rear sun deck and porches, it is tempting just to remain at home and savor it all or entertain guests.

We enjoy hiking and biking in the area. The Old Village is a great place to walk or bike while taking in the historical atmosphere, Charleston harbor, and meeting friendly neighbors. The Seewee area in nearby Awendaw is also a great place to hike, meditate in the midst of rare Native American ring mounds by the sea, or take the cruise boat for an afternoon hike in the Cape Romain wildlife refuge. A stroll down nearby Patriot's Point marina or Sullivan's Island completes a long day, listening to the calming sounds of the sea and enjoying the view of the Atlantic Ocean, seagulls, dolphins, lighthouses, and wildlife.
